Blow Mold Operator
POSITION SUMMARY
Operate and maintain blow molding machine, ensuring product quality, and participate in production, package, and flavor changeovers, while also performing basic troubleshooting and minor repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and maintain blow mold machines to produce beverage bottles and containers.
- Ensure product quality through inspection processes.
- Participate in production, package, and flavor changeovers and ensure machines are set for correct specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure equipment runs efficiently.
- Verify that the production schedule is for the correct time frame and make notes for upcoming changeovers.
- Review the production schedule to verify the correct preform sizes and changeover parts are present for the day.
- Perform scheduled quality checks of predetermined sample groups and enter the data; as well as make corrective actions to control the process when needed.
- Load and unload preform boxes into/out of the hoppers while recording the box number, date the preforms were produced, and the current date and time of when they were dumped.
- Correctly tag partial preform boxes for send-backs. Verify the bottles being produced are free of any defects.
- Make processing changes to the recipe to accommodate variations in the preform or its environment.
- Inspect machinery for broken, loose, or potentially harmful items.
- Expediate repairs, working with maintenance as necessary.
- Keep daily records of downtime and machine operations.
- Remove or shift materials and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow.
- Ensure package and product quality.
- Inspect equipment for repairs.
- Operate all manufacturing equipment (including new technologies) efficiently and safely.
- Clean equipment and area before, during, and after shift.
- Ensure that the product and/or supplies are being handled in a sanitary method consistent with GMP’s and properly packaged.
- Maintain clean work area through good housekeeping practices.
- Work well with others in a team-orientated atmosphere.
- Other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years or older.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Ability to operate a forklift (if position requires).
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Must posses thorough understanding of plant machinery.

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail/accuracy and multi-tasking skills.

- Mechanically inclined.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The ability to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving, and manipulating materials and parts.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 40 pounds on a periodic basis.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of various types of materials and parts.
- This position requires walking or standing most of the time during the shift.
- Must be able to climb onto and off of machinery and forklift throughout the shift (8-10 hours per day).
- Bending and stooping is routine during the work shift.
