Overview

Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes to medical records for clinic services in accordance with current medical coding guidelines.
- Review and interpret medical records, documentation, and provider notes to ensure precise coding for billing purposes.
- Prepare and submit electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) system-based claims to third-party payers, ensuring adherence to insurance requirements.
- Resolve claim denials by analyzing reasons for rejection related to coding errors or missing information, then reprocess claims for successful reimbursement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and industry regulations to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve overall accuracy of medical records.
- Manage the revenue cycle by tracking outstanding accounts receivable, following up on unpaid claims, and supporting collections efforts.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems..
- Hands-on experience using billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and health insurance claim processing platforms.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes.
- Strong understanding of health insurance policies, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management strategies.
- Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately while adhering to coding guidelines for both outpatient and inpatient services.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all billing activities.
