Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of clinical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Essential nursing duties: triage, history, vitals, EKG and injections
- Document patient histories, vital signs, and other relevant information in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment.
- Support patients with their specific needs during visits.
- Participate in coding for insurance purposes to ensure accurate billing practices.
- Call patients to relay lab results.
- Following procedures clinic opening, clinic closing, stocking rooms/labs, maintaining temp logs and office maintenance.
- Following procedures for vaccine processes/logs
- Following procedures for in house labs and maintaining kit logs
- Tasks delegated by Clinical Coordinator or providers
- Rx refills, patient lab/imaging follow-up as directed by providers
- Timely prior authorization processing, documentation and patient notification
- Diligence and adherence to HIPAA regulations, office policies & standing order processes at Madison Primary Care
- Maintain licensure and CPR certification
- Knowledge of adult health care maintenance/vaccine rules and pediatric immunization schedules
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience in a Primary Care Setting is highly desirable.
- Experience with Athena EMR is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for maintaining accurate patient records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to changing healthcare environments.
