Job Summary
Laser Technologies is seeking a dependable Spray Booth Operator – Varnish Coating to join our manufacturing team in Naperville, IL. In this hands-on role, you will set up and operate industrial spray booth equipment to apply high-quality varnish coatings to precision metal components while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and production standards. You will be responsible for preparing parts, mixing coating materials, inspecting finished products, maintaining spray equipment, and completing required production documentation. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial spray booth operations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and work instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities for cross-training and professional growth.
Reports to: Stamping and Fabrication Manager
Hours: 40 hours a week Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm plus Weekends / Overtime
Pay: Hourly plus OT
Location: This role is 100% in-person at our Naperville IL facility and requires daily on-site presence to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration with team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Set-up and operate spray booth for varnish coating applications.
2. Interpret blueprints/sketches from verbal/written instructions or from the part to be duplicated or fitted
3. Apply varnish coatings using manual spray equipment while maintaining required finish quality and coverage.
4. Measure, mix and prepare varnish materials according to manufacturer specifications and work instructions.
5. Inspect coated parts, including coating thickness, coverage, and finish quality during first-piece, in-process, and final inspections.
6. Select varnishes per job requirements.
7. Prepare parts for coating (cleaning, masking, hanging, etc.)
8. Maintain spray guns, pumps, filters, hoses and booth equipment.
9. Complete and maintain all required production, inspection, quality, and manufacturing documentation.
10. Package coated parts when required.
11. Monitor spray booth performance and adjust spray settings to maintain coating quality and meet quality standards.
12. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment and perform routine spray booth equipment maintenance.
13. Train, assist operators as needed
14. Follow all OSHA, SDS, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, and hazardous chemical handling procedures.
15. Comply with all environmental and hazardous waste handling requirements.
16. Follow all company quality standards.
17. Wear all required PPE including respirator, gloves, eye protection and protective clothing.
18. Perform other duties as required by management
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum 4 years’ experience as a spray booth operator including knowledge of paint/varnish mix operations, spray booth maintenance, and HVLP spray equipment.
2. Knowledge of dimensional inspection
3. Basic math skills.
4. Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, Lawful Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Frequently stand and walk for an entire shift.
2. Lift up to 50 pounds.
3. Frequently bend, twist, reach and stoop.
4. Ability to wear a respirator when required.
5. Ability to distinguish colors and coating defects.
6. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, fumes and varying temperatures.
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
