Job Overview
The Accounting Clerk Instructor, reporting to the Campus Director, is responsible for
delivering high-quality instruction and training to students enrolled in the accounting
clerk program. This role includes developing curriculum, teaching accounting principles
and practices, assessing student performance, and ensuring the program meets
industry standards. The instructor will provide guidance and support to students to
prepare them for successful careers in accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum Development
- Deliver engaging and effective lectures, hands-on training, and practical exercises on topics such as bookkeeping, financial statements, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, and accounting software.
- Develop and update curriculum to ensure alignment with current industry standards and best practices.
- Create and implement lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that facilitate learning and skill development.
Student Assessment and Support
- Evaluate student performance through exams, quizzes, projects, and practical exercises.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic and professional growth.
- Offer tutoring to increase student achievement.
- Offer academic advising and support to help students achieve their educational and career goals.
Compliance and Program Quality
- Ensure that the program meets all regulatory and accreditation standards
- Prepare students for industry standard certifications such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel Specialist
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Participate in continuous improvement processes to enhance program quality and effectiveness.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance instructional skills and industry knowledge.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and seminars to stay updated on trends and advancements in accounting.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum review sessions, and other departmental activities.
- Assist with student recruitment, orientation, and retention efforts.
Community and Industry Engagement
- Establish and maintain relationships with accounting and finance industry partners and employers.
- Promote the program and its benefits to prospective students and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Previous teaching or training experience preferred.
- QuickBooks certified required and certification in Microsoft Office Excel or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping practices, financial reporting, and accounting software
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems
Working Conditions
- This position typically requires working in an online environment, on a computer, and on video during live lectures.
- May require occasional travel for professional development but is otherwise fully remote
Pay: $30.00 per hour
