Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides general oversight and administration of any assigned program, initiative, or objective, including supervision of staff. Assigns and reviews work; establishes timeframes for the completion of assigned tasks; trains and orients new employees; approves/disapproves requests for paid leaves; interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for hire; evaluates employee work performance; receives and responds to grievances; helps with the development of unit work procedures and policies.
Directs and implements educational initiatives in the college.
Increases community involvement, forms partnerships, and actively represents the college to industries both locally and nationally to enhance scholarship and cooperative endeavors.
Works with the faculty and chairs to develop programs/curricula that are attractive to potential students and thus enhances recruitment to the university.
Oversees and supports academic advisement and promotes strategies and efforts that result in increased enrollment and retention.
Develops and promotes innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs/curricula that strengthen programs across the college’s disciplines.
Strategically preparesandauthorizes budgetandresourceallocation to most effectively serve academic departments and students.
Works with the YSU Foundation to access and cultivate donors.
Represents and serves as an ambassador at relevant events.
Makes final recommendations to the provost on faculty hiring, promotion, tenure, etc.
In consultation with faculty, promotes collaborative and creative teaching/learning environments and facilitates the use of new technologies in classrooms and laboratories.
Overseesprogramreview and HLC and professional accreditation for the programs.
Develops policies for use of course fee and college fee revenue that address short and long-term needs.
Places emphasis on expanding scholarship and research funding through external grants, development of intellectual property/patents, and exploration of global economic areas to include technology and manufacturing, and in support of scholarly activities, promotes coordination with constituents.
Develops long-range strategic planning for the college consistent with the University’s mission and strategic initiatives.
Works cooperatively with faculty, chairs, and administration to achieve the goals of the college and University in a spirit of shared governance.
Reviews governance documents and works with departments and programs to implement the YSU-OEA, ACE, and APAS bargaining agreements.
Effectively communicates with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.
Provides exemplary leadership in all academic matters.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday with expectations for weekend and evening availability as needed.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and students.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree; demonstrated successful record of academic teaching, research, and service with credentials appropriate for rank of professor and tenure in an academic department or higher-level administrative officer position in an academic department or college; demonstrated progression of responsibilities in various academic leadership roles; extensive experience providing innovative leadership for academic planning, program development, implementation, and evaluation; and demonstrated experience in the management of financial and human resources.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in related field. Administrative experience in STEM disciplines. Distinguished record in teaching, scholarship, and service activities. Knowledge of accreditation process and record of successful accreditation of programs. Demonstrated record of achievement in higher education teaching and administration at department chair or higher, or other appropriately related leadership experience.
Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.
