2. Position Overview
As Laundry Supervisor, you lead the daily operations of the hotel's laundry department, ensuring all linens, terry, uniforms, and guest laundry are processed with exceptional quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. You are responsible for maintaining luxury presentation standards while supporting operational flow across Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Spa, and all guest-facing departments.
This role requires strong leadership, organization, technical knowledge of commercial laundry operations, and a commitment to quality. Every item processed reflects The Hermitage Hotel's dedication to exceptional service and presentation.
3. Key Responsibilities
Daily Laundry Operations & Shift Leadership
- Supervise daily laundry operations, ensuring timely processing of guest room linens, terry, uniforms, restaurant linens, and guest laundry.
- Assign daily production priorities based on hotel occupancy, arrivals, departures, banquet activity, and operational demands.
- Monitor workflow throughout the shift to maximize productivity while maintaining quality standards.
- Support the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Executive Housekeeper in achieving departmental performance goals.
Laundry Quality & Presentation Standards
- Inspect finished linens, uniforms, and guest laundry to ensure exceptional cleanliness, proper finishing, and luxury presentation.
- Verify all items meet established standards for appearance, condition, and readiness before distribution.
- Identify stained, damaged, or worn items and coordinate repair or replacement as appropriate.
- Ensure consistent quality standards are maintained across all laundry operations.
Guest Experience & Service Recovery
- Ensure guest laundry requests are completed accurately, promptly, and with the highest level of care.
- Respond quickly and professionally to laundry-related guest concerns, resolving issues with discretion and urgency.
- Support VIP arrivals and special requests by ensuring all linen and laundry needs are fulfilled without exception.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and care when handling guest garments and personal belongings.
Team Coaching, Training & Accountability
- Supervise laundry associates to ensure compliance with hotel standards, operating procedures, and safety practices.
- Provide daily coaching, performance feedback, and hands-on leadership to promote continuous improvement.
- Assist with onboarding and training new associates on equipment operation, garment care, chemical usage, quality standards, and department procedures.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence.
Interdepartmental Communication & Coordination
- Partner closely with Housekeeping to maintain appropriate linen inventory and support efficient room turnover.
- Coordinate with Food & Beverage, Banquets, and other departments to ensure linen availability for daily operations and special events.
- Communicate equipment concerns and preventative maintenance needs with Engineering to minimize operational disruption.
- Collaborate with department leaders regarding linen usage, inventory concerns, and operational priorities.
Inventory, Supplies & Operational Readiness
- Monitor linen inventory levels and support inventory control initiatives to minimize loss and maximize utilization.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of laundry chemicals, equipment, and operating supplies.
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe laundry facilities, storage areas, and uniform rooms.
- Assist with linen inventories, ordering recommendations, and operational supply management.
Safety, Standards & Compliance
- Enforce safe work practices, including proper chemical handling, equipment operation, ergonomics, and lifting procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines, hotel sanitation standards, and all applicable safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to equipment issues, production, inventories, and operational needs.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and consistent adherence to hotel policies at all times.
4. Qualifications & Requirements
Required Experience & Professional Skills
- Minimum 3 years of commercial laundry experience, including supervisory responsibility, preferably within luxury hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of commercial laundry equipment, textile care, stain treatment, finishing techniques, and production workflow.
- Ability to lead a diverse team with professionalism, consistency, and confidence.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize changing operational demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with associates and leaders across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written); Spanish proficiency strongly preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and peak occupancy periods.

- Ability to bend, reach, twist, push carts, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to work safely in a warm, fast-paced commercial laundry environment.
Preferred Extras
- Experience working in a luxury hotel laundry operation.
- Prior experience supervising commercial laundry or linen operations.
- Knowledge of commercial laundry equipment, textile preservation, inventory management, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with hotel laundry production standards and luxury hospitality service expectations.
