Job Overview
A federal services contractor is hiring an entry-level Hydrologic Technician to support water-resource monitoring across central Wyoming. You'll work hands-on with stream gauges and monitoring wells in the field this role requires physical presence at project sites in and around Riverton and cannot be performed remotely.
Because these technical positions support federal agency operations, there are strict compliance guidelines regarding work authorization. Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions, as we cannot accommodate H-1B visa sponsorships, nor can we accept OPT or CPT programs for these specific roles.
Responsibilities
- Assist with installing, adjusting, inspecting, and servicing crest-stage indicators, well-recorders, and other water-data instruments
- Check gauge settings to help ensure the accuracy of collected records
- Assist in measuring stream discharge using standard field devices
- Observe and note field conditions relevant to stage-discharge relationships
- Compile groundwater-level observations from designated wells and collect water samples for chemical analysis
- Work routine, familiar assignments with minimal direction from a lead technician; more complex or unfamiliar problems come with explicit guidance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry level no prior experience required, training provided
- Comfortable working outdoors at remote field sites in variable weather
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs of lightweight gear to sampling sites.
- Valid driver's license; must be able to travel locally between sites
- Must pass a federal background check; U.S. work authorization required
- Candidates should be prepared to live in or relocate to the local area, given the rural, in-person nature of this role

Pay: $18.55 - $22.50 per hour
