Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Store Manager to oversee daily operations of our retail location. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of retail management. This role involves managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining store performance standards to drive sales and profitability. The Store Manager will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment, supervising team members, and implementing effective merchandising strategies to enhance the shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise store staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating employee performance
- Oversee daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to company policies
- Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, and purchasing to optimize product availability
- Implement effective merchandising strategies to maximize sales and improve store presentation
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Conduct sales management activities, including setting sales targets and monitoring progress
- Manage POS systems, cash handling procedures, and cashiering duties with accuracy
- Develop staff schedules, manage shift coverage, and ensure proper staffing levels
- Coordinate marketing efforts to promote store offerings and increase foot traffic
- Maintain organizational standards through bookkeeping, payroll oversight, and administrative tasks
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized store environment
- Utilize negotiation skills for vendor relations and purchasing negotiations
- Support employee orientation, training & development initiatives to foster team growth
Requirements
- Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments with supervising responsibilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
- Proficiency in retail math, pricing strategies, inventory management, and POS systems
- Experience in customer service excellence and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking procedures, and marketing strategies
- Ability to handle cash handling duties accurately and responsibly
- Organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping and administrative tasks
- Demonstrated ability in budgeting, sales management, and shift management
- Strong time management skills with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively
- Previous assistant manager or supervisory experience preferred; familiarity with retail sales metrics is advantageous
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced retail environment
