Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for an Observation Unit in Urbana, Illinois. This is a 13-week travel assignment offering a consistent day shift schedule with no on-call requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and experience caring for adult medical-surgical and observation patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Observation Unit.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
- Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate new IVs according to facility policy.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition using critical thinking and sound clinical judgment.
- Participate in staff meetings and maintain documentation standards.
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN License
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Basic computer proficiency (EMR, email, spreadsheets, and web browsers)
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
