QUALIFICATIONS

Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education, obtained an associate's degree (or higher), or passed the ParaProfessional Assessment/Score of 456 or higher.

JOB GOALS
-
To assist teachers in giving specialized academic, behavioral, and physical training to students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-
Attends to the personal needs of students with disabilities. This may include changing diapers or cleaning students with specific needs.

Assists students with disabilities with walking, feeding, boarding buses, fitting of prosthetic appliances, dressing, and performing other physical activities as the needs arise.

Provides clerical assistance to teachers.

Assists teachers with student management.

Sets up and operates learning/development equipment and materials.
-
Tutors students with disabilities.

Assumes responsibilities for understanding, knowing, and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job.

Performs other duties as assigned by teacher, principal, or director.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Lifting of objects that may exceed 40 pounds.

Carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Lifting of students that may weigh in excess of 100 pounds.

Other physical demands may be required as needed.
