Keeping our hotel running smoothly is vital to our guest's experience – as a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll keep everything looking sharp and running like clockwork, from simple repairs to forward-thinking for the next day. With naturally high standards to support our own, you’ll approach every task with devotion and pride.

We are a multi-year, award winning, family-owned and operated Holiday Inn Express that takes great care in our guests, employees and our hotel! The hotel recently went through a full renovation in 2023 in both guest rooms and common spaces.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
This position requires you to already have experience in a wide range of maintenance-related tasks. We are looking for a self-starter that can manage their time effectively, shift priorities when needed, as well as work effectively with other departments to achieve success as a whole. You will also regularly interact with guests, so you must have strong customer service skills.
- Managing your time for the day / week to ensure critical tasks are addressed while still adhering to the preventative maintenance schedule in accordance with hotel and franchise standards
- Stay current with electronic maintenance log (Quore) throughout the day - basic familiarity with technology required
- Repair or replace items around the hotel
- Be a friendly face and a helping hand to our guests
- Refurbish items in guest rooms
- Keep your supervisor or duty manager in the loop and these tasks,
- Manage maintenance inventory effectively and anticipate replacement needs by communicating low-stock and re-order needs to manager(s).
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms and throughout the hotel in accordance with the IHG Way of Preventative Maintenance standards
- Provide pre-scheduled shuttle rides for guests (clean driving record and valid Florida driver's license required)
- Look smart and approachable in your uniform
- Organize supplies and storage rooms, making sure equipment is ready for the next day
- Be familiar with common hotel systems, such as electronic guest locks (Onity), thermostat management (centrally managed thermostats for guest rooms), pool readings and basic maintenance, etc.
- Guide other maintenance team members by planning tasks, maintenance projects and effectively communicating hotel needs to other team members.
- BE HELPFUL! Be ready to take on extra duties as and when the team needs you. Sometimes this may include assisting in other areas in a reasonable manner
- Live up to high safety standards – follow guidelines and tell your supervisor about any incidents, dangerous conditions or unsafe equipment
- Take responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of areas inside and outside of the hotel, like the grounds, parking area and pool
- Always keep an eye out for improvements – follow the preventative maintenance calendar and keep everything working and efficient at all times
- Being located in Florida, HVAC is a key factor in keeping a cool environment for our guests. Having experience with HVAC as well as PTAC units is key, as you will need to be familiar with basic diagnosing and replacing PTAC units in guest rooms as needed.What we need from you
- Experience – you’ll have at least three years of maintenance or repair work under your belt (prior hotel maintenance is highly preferable)
- Fitness – you’ll be on your feet most of the day and will need to bend and kneel a lot (must be able to lift 50 lbs)
- Fluent in English (bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required)
- A high school diploma or related vocational
- General familiarity with computers and use of technology for electronic maintenance log, smart thermostat manager, online training, etc.
- Positive and respectful attitude
- Valid Florida Driver's License with clean driving record (would be responsible for occasional pre-scheduled shuttle rides).
- Staying on top of building equipment and hand tools, you'll have a working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics and preventative maintenance procedures
- Great communication skills, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to and above all, respectful to coworkers, managers and guests.
