What You'll Do
- Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.
- Document accurately patient encounter in the EMR system.
- Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan.
- Prescribe, supply, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids.
- Prescribe medications to treat eye diseases.
- Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors.
- Provide services to patients as required such as OCT, take Fundus photos, etc.
- Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
- Remove foreign bodies from the eye.
- Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
- Monitor and stratify individual risk factors associated inherent to the patient, family or underlying conditions.
- Help identify and engage patients in need of an Optometry Exam.
- Assist in managing the Optical.
- Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG guidelines, other State and Federal laws).
What We're Seeking:
- An OD (Doctor of Optometry) who has passed the NBEO (National Board of Examiners in Optometry) and has at least 1 year of experience.
- A patient-focused, quality-driven Optometrist who is looking for a long-term home in healthcare.
