Job Summary
We are seeking an adaptable Mobile Medical Assistant to support our healthcare network across the East Bay and South Bay regions. In this regional, field-based role, you will act as a primary point of contact for patients, delivering hands-on clinical care in various outpatient environments. You will adapt quickly to different specialty settings, from urgent care clinics to dermatology practices and hospital outpatient units. This position is ideal for an energetic clinician looking to make a direct community impact. This is a fully compensated, paid role from your very first day.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Take charge of patient intake by recording medical histories, checking vital signs, and ensuring all details are updated accurately in the electronic medical records.
- Clinical Support: Assist providers during clinical procedures, including blood draws (phlebotomy), administering medications, managing wound care, and operating basic X-ray equipment under direct supervision.
- Patient Assessments: Conduct patient assessments, evaluate physiological markers, and document symptoms using precise medical terminology.
- Records Management: Maintain highly accurate patient charts, adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines and standard ICD coding practices.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with emergency, hospitalist, and outpatient teams to streamline patient care, applying trauma-level protocols (Level I/II) when necessary.
- EHR Management: Navigate EMR databases to handle administrative workflows, coordinate scheduling, and manage records to ensure data consistency across departments.
- Clinic Operations: Help keep clinic operations running smoothly by tracking inventory, booking appointments, and managing daily patient correspondence.
Requirements
- Clinical Experience: Direct experience working as a medical assistant in an outpatient, urgent care, dermatology, or hospital setting (trauma center experience is highly valued).
- Medical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, pharmacology, clinical terminology, ICD codes, and medication protocols.
- System Proficiency: Proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR/EMR) platforms; experience in inpatient care or PICU environments is a major plus.
- Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; specialized credentials like a phlebotomy license or X-ray tech certification are highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to treating a diverse range of patient populations.
- Autonomy: Capability to operate autonomously in the field while strictly adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a professional demeanor in clinical settings.
- Physical Stamina: Physical ability to stand for long shifts, lift medical supplies, and assist with basic diagnostic testing and patient movement.
