A growing transportation organization is seeking an experienced and solutions-oriented Breakdown Coordinator to support drivers and fleet operations. This role is responsible for managing equipment issues that occur on the road, coordinating repairs, and ensuring disruptions are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimize downtime.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in trucking maintenance, diesel repair, or fleet operations and possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers experiencing equipment failures or accident-related damage while on the road.
- Coordinate roadside service, towing, repair facilities, and rental equipment when necessary to keep operations moving.
- Identify and secure the most appropriate service vendors based on location, availability, and repair capabilities.
- Monitor repair progress and maintain communication with drivers and internal departments throughout the repair process.
- Work closely with dispatch and operations teams to address delivery concerns and minimize service interruptions.
- Review repair estimates and obtain approvals in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with purchase order creation, invoice processing, and documentation related to repairs and vendor services.
- Coordinate non-warranty repairs and follow-up maintenance activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and provide updates regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
- Support additional fleet maintenance and operational initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in transportation maintenance, diesel repair, fleet support, or a related field is required.
- Working knowledge of commercial trucks, trailers, commodities, and equipment capacities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Customer service mindset with a strong commitment to supporting drivers and operations personnel.
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods as needed throughout the workday.
