JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Bus & Facilities Maintenance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Facilities Director Terms of Employment: 12 Months
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Facilities Director or other appropriate administrative staff, is primarily responsible for providing general maintenance to the school and athletic buses and fuels buses as required. Also performs maintenance and groundskeeping duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs general maintenance for school and athletic buses. Ensures preventive maintenance work is done on all school buses in accordance with pre-established requirements.
Fuels school buses and athletic buses.
Does general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware and hanging shelves in all locations.
Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Performs ground maintenance and landscaping duties including but not limited to mowing, edging, weed eating
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of maintenance supplies, equipment, materials and methods used in bus maintenance and building repair.
Ability to make minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform various maintenance tasks as required.
Able to safely operate a variety of equipment in carrying out maintenance, mechanical and groundskeeping duties.
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work independently.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements: High school diploma. Additional training in general maintenance and repair or 2 or more years of equivalent work experience combined in bus maintenance groundskeeping or general maintenance. Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Valid CDL with applicable endorsement or the ability to obtain one. Pass background investigation and drug screen.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, push and pull heavy components, climb steps and ladders, crawl, kneel and crouch frequently. Bend and stoop, reach overhead. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods while operating equipment or performing repairs. Able to maintain a continuous grip to hold and operate hand tools. Able to work in outdoor winter cold to outdoor or indoor summer heat in an enclosed garage.
