Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional services. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Handle and restrain dogs and other animals as needed for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including injections and oral medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including surgical areas and examination rooms.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples, running tests, and processing results.
- Help with animal catheterization when required, ensuring proper techniques are followed.
- Provide front desk support by greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care practices and post-treatment instructions.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
Requirements
- Clean and organized.
- Ability to perform tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Strong skills in dog handling and animal handling; comfort with various breeds is essential.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential for success in this role.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed. We rotate Saturday half-day shifts.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is an advantage.
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
