Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Seed Quality Technician for a contract/temporary opportunity in the agriculture industry near 85121. This role supports cottonseed quality control testing in a lab, warehouse, plant, and truck sampling environment.
The QA Seed Quality Technician will assist the Quality Control Lab Supervisor with routine testing, sample handling, data verification, and lab maintenance to help ensure fuzzy cottonseed, processed cottonseed, and carryover cottonseed meet established quality standards. This is a strong opportunity for candidates with biology, laboratory, agriculture, or quality assurance experience who enjoy hands-on work, structured procedures, and contributing to product quality and safety.
This position offers a team-based environment with direct supervisor support, clear standard operating procedures, and exposure to a variety of lab testing methods and agricultural quality control processes. Candidates who are dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable performing repetitive testing with accuracy can build valuable experience in seed quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cottonseed quality control tests, including sampling, moisture, temperature, free fatty acid, genetic purity, seed count, pH, seed appearance, visual mechanical damage, and adventitious presence testing.
- Collect and process samples from trucks, warehouse bays, plant areas, and lab workstations following SOPs and work instructions.
- Verify test results, complete accurate data entry, and maintain quality records with strong attention to detail.
- Operate safely around lab and industrial equipment, including vacuum samplers, hydraulic presses, autoclaves, seed dryers, shakers, ovens, centrifuges, pipettes, and related tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab work area while following all safety practices and PPE requirements.
- Assist the QC Supervisor with additional quality control duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $22 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/temporary.
- Location: 85121.
- Schedule requires flexibility to work extended hours during peak season, especially November through December.
- Saturday work may be required as needed.
- PPE is required and provided, including safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, safety boots, hardhat, N95 mask, respirator, and Tyvek suit.
