Position Summary
The Injection Mold Setter is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining injection molding machines to support efficient production of high-quality thermoplastic components. This position plays a key role in ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and perform mold changeovers according to production schedules, ensuring proper alignment and secure installation
- Connect and verify auxiliary systems including water, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components
- Install and set up equipment such as dryers, hoppers, conveyors, and knockout bars
- Adjust and document machine parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, cycle time) to optimize performance and quality
- Install and maintain end-of-arm tooling for automated part removal and trimming processes
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality inspections using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Troubleshoot molding defects including flash, short shots, sink marks, and warpage
- Perform routine mold cleaning, inspection, and assist with preventive maintenance activities
- Follow all safety policies, including OSHA and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Manage material handling, tooling inventory, and proper storage
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively across shifts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience in injection molding setup preferred
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes and machinery
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and varying temperatures
Work Environment
- Manufacturing production floor setting
- Exposure to moving machinery and mechanical equipment
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Pay: $22.97 - $28.93 per hour
