Duties
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics on ship electrical systems and troubleshoot marine electrical issues using ohmmeters and other testing equipment.
- Execute rigging tasks and fabricate or modify sheet metal components as needed for repairs or upgrades.
- Use welding, soldering, calipers, and fabrication techniques to repair or replace damaged parts while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain water transportation equipment by performing scheduled servicing, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical failures, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Support maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) activities by managing inventory of parts and tools while following proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving marine propulsion systems maintenance or assembly tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively about repairs performed or required on marine vessels.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician with a focus on marine or heavy equipment maintenance.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in marine engine repair, mechanical systems repair, and water transportation equipment maintenance.
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting marine electrical systems and diagnosing electrical faults using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, fabrication techniques, welding (including soldering), sheet metal work, and the use of hand tools and power tools such as power drills or calipers.
- Experience working with diesel mechanics or marine propulsion systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation accurately and perform precise measurements using specialized instruments.
- Knowledge of safety procedures including PPE use during maintenance activities involving heavy lifting or hazardous materials.
- Military background or experience in engineering troubleshooting is a plus but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with strong teamwork capabilities to support ongoing maintenance projects effectively.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
