Bar Manager – Sports Bar & Billiards Venue

Schedule: Primarily afternoons, evenings, weekends, and late nights. Bar operates approximately 12:00 PM – 2:00 AM.

Komic Karma is a unique entertainment destination featuring a full sports bar, billiards hall, live events, comedy shows, and special events. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Bar Manager to oversee day-to-day bar operations, lead our team, maintain high service standards, and help create an exceptional guest experience.
Position Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Bar Manager with a minimum of 6 years of bar management experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of bar operations, beverage programs, inventory management, staff training, scheduling, POS systems, and hospitality leadership. Experience overseeing certain kitchen operations and coordinating with kitchen staff is required.
This is a leadership role requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a fast-paced sports bar and entertainment venue.
ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Oversee all daily bar operations and ensure smooth service.
- Open and close the facility according to company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal alcohol service regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the bar.
- Ensure all bar equipment, refrigeration systems, draft beer systems, glass washers, ice machines, and beverage dispensing equipment are functioning properly.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs with vendors when necessary.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve customer concerns professionally.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train bartenders, barbacks, servers, and support staff.
- Create and manage weekly staff schedules.
- Monitor labor costs and staffing levels.
- Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
- Develop training programs and standard operating procedures.
- Train bartenders on service standards, beverage preparation, responsible alcohol service, and customer engagement.
- Foster a positive team culture and maintain accountability.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manage liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and bar supply inventory.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliation.
- Minimize waste, over-pouring, and product loss.
- Establish par levels and ordering schedules.
- Work with distributors and vendors to negotiate pricing and maintain inventory levels.
- Monitor beverage costs and profitability.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate sales and inventory records.
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Monitor and control beverage cost percentages.
- Manage cash handling procedures and nightly reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate POS transactions and reporting.
- Assist ownership with budgeting and operational planning.
Kitchen Coordination
- Oversee selected kitchen operations and coordinate closely with kitchen staff.
- Monitor food inventory levels related to bar operations.
- Ensure food service standards and health regulations are maintained.
- Coordinate staffing and operational needs between kitchen and bar teams.
Toast POS Management
- Advanced working knowledge of Toast POS.
- Manage menu updates, pricing changes, employee permissions, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot POS-related issues.
- Generate operational and financial reports.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 6 years of Bar Manager experience.
- Experience managing a high-volume sports bar, restaurant bar, entertainment venue, or similar establishment.
- Strong knowledge of liquor, beer, wine, and draft systems.
- Experience with inventory management and purchasing.
- Experience hiring, training, and managing staff.
- Strong knowledge of Toast POS.
- Knowledge of bar equipment operation and maintenance.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Preferred
- Experience in sports bars, billiards halls, or entertainment venues.
- Food service or kitchen management experience.
- TIPS Certification or equivalent.
- New Jersey alcohol service compliance knowledge.
