Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is seeking a Dimensional Engineer to join their team. As a Dimensional Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting vehicle sensor integration and development. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Lead Dimensional Engineer – Autonomous Vehicle Sensors
Location: Foster City, CA
Pay Range: $90-$100/hour + Benefits
What's the Job?
- Lead the dimensional management for multiple major vehicle programs, ensuring precise sensor integration across different architectures.
- Define and validate functional requirements for vehicle build and sensor placement to establish reliable baseline standards.
- Establish robust datum schemes, sensor mounting strategies, and tolerance allocations to maintain calibration stability.
- Review and approve metrology fixtures, ensuring alignment with strict program assembly and measurement standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to evaluate capabilities, define acceptable limits, and manage engineering escalations.
What's Needed?
- 8 to 10 years of experience in dimensional management, variation simulation, or metrology within automotive, aerospace, or autonomous robotics sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Fixture Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), variation analysis tools, and basic statistical concepts such as CP, CPK, and gauge R&R studies.
- Proficiency in GD&T principles, with experience creating, validating, and optimizing complex technical drawings.
- Practical expertise using CATIA V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) for 3D model interrogation and dimensional evaluation.
