Old Hickory Smokehouse is a food processing company located in Lewisburg, TN. We smoke and pack a variety of proteins for various applications including sliced, shredded, and whole muscles, with & without sauce.
Our entire plant is refrigerated and held at 35 degrees.
Forklift Operator/Material Handler
Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 06:25am-03:30pm
Pay Range is $18-$20 / will discuss during interview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our dynamic warehouse team. This vital role involves operating various types of heavy equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the distribution center. The ideal candidate will be energetic, safety-conscious, and possess a strong understanding of warehouse operations. Your efforts will directly contribute to seamless shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment processes, helping us deliver excellence to our customers every day.
Duties
- Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse
- Perform order picking using manual handling techniques and order picker equipment to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Manage shipping and receiving tasks by verifying inbound and outbound shipments against documentation
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to ensure machinery remains in optimal working condition
- Assist with warehouse management system (WMS) entries to track inventory movements and stock levels
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing storage areas, stacking pallets, and maintaining a clean work environment
- Follow safety standards in production and adhere to OSHA regulations to prevent accidents and injuries during heavy lifting or equipment operation
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks in a warehouse setting
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and order processing
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, including load & unload operations
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while managing heavy loads with proper lifting techniques
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately
- Excellent understanding of safety standards in production environments as outlined by OSHA regulations
- Warehouse experience with a focus on materials handling, heavy lifting, and equipment operation
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and warehouse supervisors
