We’re Hiring: Join the SpringHouse Country Farm as a Dairy Assistant!
Do you love working with animals, being outdoors, and getting your hands dirty doing honest, hard work that matters? We’re looking for a dependable, strong, early-bird (or night owl!) to help us care for our herd of 130 dairy cows here at The SpringHouse Country Farm.
What You’ll Be Doing:
We milk twice a day in a double-10 parallel parlor and are looking for help with morning and/or evening milking shifts. You can work up to 5 shifts a week, depending on your schedule.
Morning Shift (5:00 AM – 10:00 AM):
- Prep the parlor and bring up the girls
- Start milking at 5:45 and finish around 8:15
- Clean the system and barn area until 9:15
- Feed our adorable baby calves until 10:00
Evening Shift (4:00 PM – 9:00 PM):
- Feed the calves first thing
- Bring in the herd and prep the parlor
- Milk from 5:30 to 8:15
- Wrap up with cleanup and head home around 9:00
What We’re Looking For:
- Large animal experience is preferred — comfort around big animals is important
- Milking experience is a plus, but not required — we’ll train the right person
- A strong work ethic and a love for animals
- Ability to be on your feet for 5 hours straight
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
- Dependability is key — the cows are counting on you!
Pay & Training:
- Candidates already coming in with experience will be considered with a higher starting wage
This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with animals, doesn’t mind a little (okay, a lot of) manure, and wants to be a part of a family-owned farm with deep roots in our Washington County community.
There’s something special about starting or ending your day with a barn full of moo’s and the smell of fresh hay. If you’re looking to get involved with meaningful, hands-on work and be part of something wholesome and real—this might just be the job for you.
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Benefits:
Work Location: In person
