American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Medical Surgical unit at a correctional health facility, requiring an active IL LPN license and 2+ years of recent acute care experience.

Correctional facility setting on a Medical Surgical unit

Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (11:00-23:30)
-
Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)

Uses Cerner charting system
-
Mandatory float facility - all clinicians required to float within scope at facility discretion

May be required to float outside primary competency, with team-based care model support in place
-
May float to other Cook facilities within a 50-mile radius, with as little as 2 hours notice prior to shift start

No on-call requirements

Navy blue scrubs required

Current Illinois LPN license in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)

Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing in Illinois

BLS certification required
-
Completion of IDFPR-approved Pharmacology/Medication Administration coursework for Practical Nurses, with documentation available upon request

Minimum 2 years of recent full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred

Cerner charting experience required
-
Proficiency in medication administration (oral, subcutaneous, IM, eye/ear drops), NG/G tube care, respiratory care (oxygen, nasal cannula, face masks), wound care/wound vac, and patient bathing/hygiene
-
Skilled in vital sign monitoring, cardiac monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, restraint use, and patient admissions

Experience with blood glucose monitoring, foley catheter insertion (male and female), and ambulation assistance
-
Two professional references required prior to start, from most recent employers, with one from the most recent employer
-
International candidates must have SSN/SSC finalized (not pending) prior to submission
-
Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
-
Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit including medication administration, wound care, respiratory treatments, and assistance with activities of daily living
-
Participate in cardiac monitoring and emergency response including rapid response/code team activation as needed
-
No holiday RTO permitted, and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
-
Maximum RTO of 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
-
Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and re-attend orientation, even if the prior break in contract was less than 30 days
-
Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility will be considered local

Refusal to float may result in assignment cancellation
