FLEET MAINTENANCE MANAGER
*If you're a mechanic who is tired of the shop grind and wants ownership over a real fleet with upside, this is your role*
Own the condition, reliability, and readiness of a 15-truck FedEx Ground linehaul fleet of Volvos and Freightliners. We're looking for a seasoned veteran mechanic who can diagnose and fix most issues independently, while building the systems and standards that keep our fleet running clean and compliant.
THE ROLE This is a role built for someone who can not only handle, but thrive with autonomy. We expect proactive ownership, not reactive firefighting. You will be the person who catches (and fixes) problems before they become breakdowns.
The position breaks down into three core parts, with a fourth that separates the good from the great:
1. PROACTIVE MAINTENANCE PLANNING
2. ACTUAL (UNDER THE HOOD) MAINTENANCE WORK
3. OTR DRIVER MAINTENANCE OVERSIGHT
4. *BIG PICTURE* SYSTEMIZING THE MAINTENANCE OPERATION
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Overall condition and readiness of a 15-truck fleet
- In-town inspections: tires, body, cab, filters, and general condition
- Periodic inspections: lube, undercarriage, rotors, interior
- 50,000-mile PM execution and full tractor inspection for entire fleet
- Diagnostics, repairs, and mechanical work on Volvo and Freightliner equipment
- Pre-trip standard design, review, and enforcement
- Driver support for breakdown troubleshooting
- Vendor, dealership, and service provider coordination
- On-call availability for OTR breakdowns 5 nights per week
MECHANICAL CAPABILITIES WE'RE LOOKING FOR Full diagnostics on Volvo and Freightliner, filter changes, windshield wipers, fuses, bulbs, pintle hook, ABS sensors and module, forced regens, wheel sensors, DOT inspections, pinion seal, crankcase, 7th injector, hanger bearing, 3-in-1, coolant manifold, radiator, air compressor, valve adjustments, fuel pump, oil pump, blower motor, trans lines, oil pan, bumper and radar install and recalibration, alternator, NOx sensors, solenoid valve, air bags, shocks and struts, brake and drum replacement, 7-way plug, Bendix ECU.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Seasoned veteran mechanic with multiple years of hands-on shop experience
- Capable of independently diagnosing and resolving most issues without escalation
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive by nature
- Takes initiative without requiring constant direction
- Moves fast and responds quickly
- Communicates clearly with drivers and management
- Takes pride in equipment condition and operational readiness
- Comfortable operating independently with real accountability

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
