Job Summary
Helping Hands of Springfield is seeking dependable and compassionate individuals to serve as Shelter Specialists. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and structured environment for residents within our shelter.
Shelter Specialists are responsible for monitoring daily activities, supporting clients, and ensuring compliance with shelter rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor shelter operations and ensure a safe environment for all residents
- Enforce shelter rules and address behavioral issues appropriately
- Conduct routine checks of facility and resident areas
- Provide support and guidance to clients as needed
- Document incidents, observations, and shift activity
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Assist with intake and discharge procedures as needed
- Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in social services, security, or related field preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally
- Reliable and able to work flexible shifts

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
