Job Summary
At the direction of the Construction Manager and In‑House Services leadership, coordinate, execute, and complete bathtub, shower, and bathroom tile installations across multiple properties. This position is responsible for demolition, surface preparation, waterproofing, tile installation, and finish work associated with tub and shower replacements, ensuring all work meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable building codes. Occasional travel to other sites.
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, install, repair, and replace bathtubs, shower bases, and surrounding wall assemblies.
- Remove existing tubs, shower surrounds, tile, and backing materials while protecting adjacent finished surfaces.
- Inspect wall framing and substrates for damage or deterioration and report conditions requiring repair.
- Install cement backer board, waterproofing membranes, and related substrates for tub and shower enclosures.
- Layout, cut, and install ceramic, porcelain, and mosaic tile on walls and floors.
- Grout, seal, and caulk tile installations with attention to clean lines, alignment, and finish quality.
- Install trim pieces, thresholds, transitions, and accessories related to tile and tub installations.
- Coordinate work with plumbing, carpentry, and other in‑house trade teams as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May periodically inspect work performed by contractors or vendors to verify work quality and adherence to scope and specifications.
- Complies with Solomon’s safety and risk‑management policies by attending and participating in routine safety meetings, completing required training on OSHA and other safety‑related laws and requirements, and reporting accidents and incidents promptly and accurately.
- Demonstrates customer service skills by treating residents, property staff, and others with respect and professionalism while working in occupied or vacant units.
- Assists in conducting routine and periodic property inspections to identify safety and risk
- management concerns, keep the property in good repair, and communicate concerns about the physical needs of the property to management.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to property operations.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, property, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or injuries.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and offers suggestions to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
Working Conditions:
- Incumbents work both in and inside apartment units and common areas across multiple properties.
- Work is performed in bathrooms, mechanical spaces, and other confined areas.
Physical Demands:
- Incumbents must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and work in confined spaces.
- Incumbents must be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions as required.
- Incumbents must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to twenty‑five (25) pounds independently and fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
- Rare or regular travel may be required to assist other properties, attend training classes, or perform work at multiple sites.
- Incumbents must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Incumbents must have professional experience in tub, shower, and bathroom tile installation.
- Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, tile saws, and related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and follow scopes of work, drawings, and manufacturer installation requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to apply logical thinking to identify and correct installation or substrate issues.
- Proficiency in interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, property staff, and other business contacts.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in order to follow instructions, document issues, and represent company standards.
- Must have reliable transportation.
