Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing Peterson Cartridge’s accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls while supporting strategic business initiatives. This position is intended for an experienced accounting professional with the desire and capability to grow into the Controller role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor management, customer credit, collections, payment processing, and annual 1099 reporting.
- Manage banking relationships, cash management, bank reconciliations, ACH/wire transfers, and cash flow activities.
- Maintain inventory accounting, costing, reconciliations, physical inventory oversight, work order audits, and inventory system integrity.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, payroll, sales/use, and income tax requirements while coordinating with external CPA firms.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including financial, tax, workers' compensation, and bank audits.
- Review payroll processing, payroll journal entries, reimbursements, W-2 reporting, and serve as backup payroll processor.
- Maintain corporate records, governance documentation, purchasing compliance, and vendor agreements.
- Support Human Resources with regulatory filings, unemployment claims, employment verifications, and annual compliance reporting.
- Oversee financial aspects of the Company's e-commerce platform, inventory accuracy, and multi-state sales tax compliance.
- Coordinate with external IT providers and assist with technology onboarding and basic systems support.
- Lead process improvements, strengthen internal controls, develop policies and procedures, train employees, and participate in cross-functional committees.
- Complete special projects, financial research, cost reduction initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CMA preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
