Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations at Fennell Spring Company. In this key leadership role, you will oversee daily production activities, ensure safe and efficient operations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements. This position provides leadership to production personnel, manages staffing and equipment resources, develops production schedules, and supports operational excellence through a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Working closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Customer Service, the Production Manager plays a critical role in achieving production goals while upholding Fennell Spring Company's commitment to quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct daily manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, and in accordance with customer quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, staffing plans, and equipment utilization strategies to meet customer delivery commitments and production goals.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor production performance, quality metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions and process improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and address production challenges, equipment issues, workflow inefficiencies, and safety concerns to maintain operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Customer Service to resolve issues, improve processes, and achieve production, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, waste reduction, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
- Review production reports and operational data to support decision-making, improve resource utilization, and drive manufacturing excellence.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and corrective action activities.
- Manage departmental resources and budgets while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implement corrective actions, and promote a safe and organized work environment.

- Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold employees accountable for performance, quality, and safety standards.
- Extensive manufacturing experience with a thorough understanding of production operations, workflow management, and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, production processes, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve production, quality, and operational issues.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Customer Service departments.
- Ability to develop production schedules, manage staffing resources, and prioritize work to meet customer delivery requirements and operational goals.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, performance metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies that support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Experience establishing productivity goals, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations, risk mitigation practices, and the ability to promote and enforce a safety-focused culture.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing, ERP, or production management software. Experience with SYSPRO, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement programs is a plus.
