Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee our bookkeeping and client accounting services department. This role is responsible for managing client engagements, reviewing financial statements, supervising staff accountants and bookkeepers, improving internal processes, and ensuring exceptional client service.
The ideal candidate is organized, technically strong, proactive, and enjoys mentoring others.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of monthly bookkeeping and accounting clients
- Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness
- Supervise and mentor bookkeeping staff
- Review reconciliations for bank, credit card, loan, payroll, and balance sheet accounts
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closes
- Assist clients with accounting questions and financial reporting
- Work closely with the tax department to prepare clean year-end financials
- Identify opportunities to improve client accounting systems and internal workflows
- Train staff on accounting best practices and firm procedures
- Maintain high standards of quality and client satisfaction
- Assist with onboarding new accounting clients
- Help develop scalable processes as the firm continues to grow
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Public accounting or outsourced accounting experience preferred
- Advanced QuickBooks Online experience
- Experience reviewing financial statements
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
Preferred
- Experience managing staff
- Familiarity with payroll and sales tax
- Experience with multiple entity structures
- Experience using accounting practice management software
