Candidate Requirements:
This role is open ONLY to US Citizens as all candidates must be eligible for secret security clearance (clearance requires US Citizenship). Please note, clearance isnt required to start (only eligibility). Candidates who are Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders), TN visa holders, H1B or F1 (OPT/CPT) candidates are NOT permitted in this role. Position Summary
The Hardware Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product configurations throughout the design, development, and production lifecycle. This role manages engineering changes, maintains technical data packages (TDPs), and ensures configuration management processes are executed in accordance with established Configuration Management (CM) plans, industry standards, and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to control product configurations, support audits, maintain engineering documentation, and ensure configuration accuracy across complex hardware programs.
Key Responsibilities
Configuration Management

Perform Hardware Configuration Management (CM) activities throughout the product lifecycle
- Manage engineering changes using established configuration control processes
- Maintain approved product baselines and ensure configuration integrity
- Apply Configuration Management processes in accordance with approved CM Plans
- Track and control product configurations from development through production
Technical Data Package (TDP) Management

Develop, maintain, and manage Engineering Technical Data Packages (TDPs)
- Ensure engineering documentation is complete, accurate, and properly controlled
- Coordinate documentation updates resulting from engineering changes
- Maintain configuration records and supporting documentation throughout the product lifecycle
Product Data Management

Utilize Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to manage engineering documentation and product structures
- Maintain product records and engineering databases
- Support configuration control of Bills of Material (BOMs) and product documentation
- Verify data accuracy and ensure documentation consistency
Audit & Compliance

Support internal and external Configuration Management and Quality audits
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and Configuration Management standards
- Assist in preparing documentation for customer and regulatory audits
- Support corrective actions related to configuration management findings
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, customers, and suppliers
- Coordinate engineering documentation and configuration changes across multiple functional organizations
- Provide configuration management support throughout product development and production
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve configuration management processes and documentation workflows
- Support implementation of process improvements and best practices
- Assist in improving documentation accuracy, efficiency, and configuration control
Required Qualifications
Education
-
Technical Associate's degree or
- Four years of Configuration Management experience
Experience
-
Minimum of 2 years of relevant Configuration Management experience
- Experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
- Experience supporting engineering documentation and configuration control activities
Technical Skills

Experience using PDM or PLM databases
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prepare reports, metrics, and technical documentation
- Understanding of engineering documentation and configuration control principles

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related discipline or
- Eight years of Configuration Management experience

Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs
- Experience using PTC Windchill
- Experience managing Bill of Material (BOM) structures
- Experience supporting engineering change management processes
Technical Knowledge

Knowledge of Configuration Management standards and engineering documentation, including:
- MIL-HDBK-61A
- MIL-STD-31000
- EIA-649
- ASME Y14.24
- ASME Y14.100
- Formal training in Configuration Data Management (CDM)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and data analysis
- Familiarity with Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)
