Jon & Vinny’s is a fast-paced, high-volume, all-day restaurant serving several Los Angeles communities 7 days a week. What you’ll do:
The Beverage Server position will be responsible for the following:
- Uphold Jon & Vinny’s standards of hospitality and professionalism, providing friendly and attentive service to all guests.

Understand and have the ability to execute the steps of service.

Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required.

Acknowledging and learning names of regulars, our neighbors and friends of the restaurant.

Respecting everyone in the building - maintaining cleanliness, acknowledging all employees, using respectful language, dressing appropriately and working with everyone else in the building to be helpful. Maintaining a positive attitude is important every day.

Showing up ready to work. Attire should be clean and wrinkle-free and have on their person during their shift a restaurant provided sharpie, a wine opener, a lighter and a server book.

Polishing glassware and silverware as needed.
- Respecting the facility - picking up trash, cleaning up after yourself, taking the initiative to clean, finishing your side work, letting managers know if anything is in disrepair.

Running food or drinks, assisting in pre-bussing tables, sweeping floors, helping teammates in the FOH or BOH, being present and aware in order to assist with any spills or special requests.

Knowing your schedule and showing up to work on-time. Awareness and self-management with break times and clock out times is crucial to the success of each shift.

At the direction of management, assess wine deliveries at the start of the shift. Know how to read invoices, price new wines with the correct markup and stock them correctly on the shelves. Stocking should never take place during the busiest times unless you need the product.
- Make sure all wine is rung in correctly in Toast.

Support and assist any retail customers looking for Wine Retail or Doordash sales.
- Make sure that all bottles are always fronted and flush.
- Keep the glass cubbies and beverage fridge stocked.

Basic Skills: Know the wine list very well (i.e., familiarity with all producers on the list and in inventory), pass wine study quizzes and have knowledge of regions and winemaking, manage floor and shop flow solo, confidently open still and sparkling wine bottles table side, present and serve wine following the proper etiquette/protocol, know how to decant wines when needed/requested and how to use the Ah-So for older bottles.
- Complete nightly side work and review with the closing manager before clocking out.
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, according to Jon & Vinny’s/Helen’s standards and recipes.

Welcome and engage guests at the bar if applicable to your store, providing recommendations and information about our beverage offerings.

Pour drinks at proper levels always using measurements, and ensure all beverages go on the guest check. Free pouring alcoholic drinks is not allowed.
- Have a solid understanding of liquor and know the origin and characteristics of each brand.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.

Collaborate with the kitchen and serving staff to coordinate food and beverage orders and ensure timely service.

Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure responsible service, adhering to legal and company policies.
-
Have a deep understanding of coffee & tea and know how to check all components of coffee drinks for quality, identify properly brewed coffee and espresso, dial in drip coffee and espresso, foam milk correctly, know all coffee specs, and maintain a clean, stocked station during service while efficiently making beverages.

Understand all the machines used during coffee service including the grinders, percolators and espresso machine and maintain these machines to spec.
Know recipes for all items in the Barista Reference Guide. Make sure all Pars are completed.

Additional Responsibilities:

Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for customers.

Stay updated on current beverage trends and continuously improve knowledge of coffee and cocktail preparation.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper sanitation practices.

Assist with special events and promotions as needed.

Qualifications:

Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.

Must be of legal drinking age (for bartending duties).
