Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: VA Hudson Valley Health Care System (Montrose, NY) (HVHCS)
Grit Government Solutions is currently looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its customer, at HVHCS. Position Contingent on Contract Award.
POSITION AND DUTY REQUIREMENTS
LPN will provide skilled nursing care to patients in the Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home Care Unit and Psychiatric patients. The LPN may perform procedures approved for Medical Center staff as outlined in the Licensed Practical Nurse Act and Vocational Nurse VA Qualification Standards, available at https://department.va.gov/employees/va-qualifications-standards/. The contracted LPN demonstrates increasing autonomy in patient care management and possesses competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical, and geriatric patients. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the LPN will collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed across various units, including ambulatory care, critical care, nursing home, and the Emergency Room throughout the VA Medical Centers. The LPN operates both independently and under guidance and supervision.
LPN shall possess the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare, administer, and accurately document commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications, in accordance with approved local facility policies and procedures. Observation and documentation will include the patient’s response to administered medications and any observed changes in the patient’s condition, which must be reported to the RN or physician. The LPN must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as part of the nursing team and interact professionally with patients, family members, and other healthcare personnel involved in patient care, while adhering to established customer service standards.
· LPN must be a graduate of a state-approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
· All LPNs assigned to HVHCS must hold an active, current licensure as a professional nurse in the state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
· A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required.
The scheduled shifts for this position are as follows:
7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
7:30 AM to 8:00 PM
7:30 PM to 8:00 AM
Standards of Care: Staff services shall cover the range of services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art health care treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by: Relevant professional societies including ANA: https://www.nursingworld.org
Orientation: Orientation would consist of two days nursing orientation during the hours of 8A -4:30P on a weekday and then orientation would continue on the assigned unit according to the shifts of that unit and may rotate to different shifts for a 3-week period to ensure competency on all shift.
Pay: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour
