Position Summary
Hago Automotive is seeking an experienced Stamping Supervisor to lead daily operations within our automotive stamping department. This position is responsible for employee safety, production performance, product quality, equipment utilization, employee development, and compliance with company and customer requirements.
The Stamping Supervisor will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, Logistics, EHS, and Human Resources to maintain safe, efficient, and stable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily stamping operations to meet production schedules, customer requirements, and departmental targets.
- Assign employees, presses, and work areas based on production priorities, staffing, and employee qualifications.
- Lead shift-start meetings and communicate safety concerns, production goals, quality alerts, and operational issues.
- Monitor production output, downtime, efficiency, scrap, rework, labor utilization, material flow, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate press setups, die and coil changes, production changeovers, first-piece inspections, and start-up approvals.
- Ensure press parameters and operating conditions remain within approved specifications.
- Enforce press-safety, machine-guarding, lockout/tagout, die-setting, PPE, and material-handling requirements.
- Ensure only trained and authorized employees operate presses, forklifts, cranes, and related equipment.
- Stop production when safety, quality, equipment, or product-conformity risks are identified.
- Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Engineering to resolve equipment, tooling, production, and quality concerns.
- Ensure nonconforming or suspect material is properly identified, segregated, documented, and escalated.
- Maintain product identification, traceability, special-characteristic controls, and required production records.
- Monitor tooling condition and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Maintain KPI boards, shift reports, production records, training matrices, and departmental work instructions.
- Lead continuous-improvement activities involving safety, quality, productivity, downtime, scrap, cost, ergonomics, and 5S.
- Train, coach, evaluate, and develop Team Leaders and production employees.
- Monitor staffing, attendance, overtime, job rotation, training, and cross-training.
- Address employee performance and policy concerns consistently and in coordination with Human Resources.
- Review and approve time, attendance, overtime, and other required Paycor records.
- Maintain effective communication between shifts and supporting departments.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, respectful treatment, and two-way communication.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in manufacturing, business, engineering technology, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- At least three years of manufacturing experience required.
- At least two years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Automotive stamping or related metal-manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of stamping presses, dies, coil-fed material, press setups, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.
- Understanding of production scheduling, material flow, kanban, standardized work, quality controls, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to read blueprints, specifications, control plans, work instructions, and technical documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable production, ERP, quality, and HR systems. SAP and Paycor experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible or rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.
Management System Responsibilities
The Stamping Supervisor is responsible for supporting Hago Automotive’s Integrated Management System and compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, customer-specific requirements, and applicable company procedures.
This includes:
- Ensuring employees understand their impact on product conformity, product safety, customer satisfaction, environmental performance, and workplace safety.
- Enforcing approved procedures, work instructions, control plans, and process specifications.
- Reporting nonconforming product, safety risks, environmental concerns, and unauthorized process changes.
- Supporting audits, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, risk reduction, and continual improvement.
- Maintaining accurate production, quality, inspection, and training records.
- Exercising the authority to stop production when safety, quality, product conformity, or customer requirements may be compromised.
Physical and Work Requirements
This position works primarily in an automotive manufacturing environment around stamping presses, moving equipment, tooling, oils, metal materials, noise, and other industrial conditions.
The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; occasionally climb, bend, stoop, reach, and work around tooling and equipment; and occasionally lift or move 30–50 pounds with or without assistance. Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
