Job Description:
Provides direct, hands-on care to residents during overnight hours, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity while supporting nursing staff in a skilled nursing facility.
Perform routine rounds (typically every 2 hours) to check resident safety and comfort
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) :
Respond promptly to call lights and alarms
Transfer and ambulate residents using proper equipment (gait belts, lifts, etc.)
Monitor residents for changes in condition (pain, confusion, breathing issues) and report to nurse
Take and record vital signs as assigned
Maintain accurate charting/documentation
Ensure clean, safe environment (bed checks, clutter-free rooms, proper positioning)
Assist with early morning care (getting select residents up for day shift)
Active CNA certification (state-required)
Basic knowledge of patient care and safety practices
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong observation and communication skills
Physical ability to:
Lift, turn, and transfer residents
Stand/walk for long periods
Skilled Nursing Facility (long-term care/rehab)
Fast-paced at times, especially during rounds and early morning care
Lower staffing ratios than day shift more responsibility per CNA
Reliability (nights depend on you heavily)
Calm under pressure
Attention to detail (small changes matter overnight)
Respectful, patient-centered attitude
