Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Childcare Van Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of children to and from educational, recreational, and childcare facilities. This vital role combines responsible driving with compassionate childcare, creating a positive experience for young passengers while adhering to all safety regulations. Duties
- Safely operate passenger vans and school buses in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
- Assist children with boarding and exiting vehicles, including wheelchair assistance when necessary, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Follow established routes and schedules precisely while responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays.
- Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle, performing routine mechanical checks and reporting any issues promptly.
- Implement child behavior management techniques to promote a positive riding environment and address any disciplinary concerns professionally.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with parents, guardians, school staff, and children.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR, first aid, emergency stop procedures, and evacuation protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in childcare settings or educational environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and transportation safety regulations.
- Experience operating paratransit vehicles or school buses preferred but not required; training provided if necessary.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures related to transportation incidents and first aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Safely and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance and child assistance.
