Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Orthopedic Surgery Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in managing patient care coordination, medical documentation, and administrative support within our orthopedic surgery department. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in surgery coordination, strong knowledge of EHR systems, and medical coding and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and surgeons.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate surgery cases from scheduling through post-operative care
- Review and verify medical documentation, including care plans, insurance information, and medical records for accuracy and completeness.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures, pre-op instructions, and recovery expectations
- Schedule surgeries, pre-op testing, imaging, and post-op appointments
- Obtain and manage prior authorizations and referrals
- Assist with medical collection efforts and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Facilitate communication between patients, physicians, and insurance providers to ensure clarity on treatment plans and billing processes.
- Support administrative functions such as office management, documentation review, and maintaining organized medical records in accordance with health information management standards.
- Provide bilingual support if applicable to enhance patient service experience.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with familiarity in orthopedic or surgical clinic environments preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgery Coordinator.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to review complex medical documentation accurately.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide excellent patient service via phone or in person; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting involving clinical support or administrative support is highly desirable.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
