We are currently hiring professional and dependable Armed Security Officers to serve as Floaters at various City of Norfolk locations. This position is responsible for providing security coverage at multiple municipal facilities throughout Norfolk based on staffing needs, call-outs, vacations, special events, and other operational requirements.
The ideal candidate is flexible, reliable, and able to adapt quickly to different assignments while maintaining a professional security presence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and the public
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols of assigned facilities
- Monitor entrances, exits, and access control points
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and security concerns
- Complete accurate incident and activity reports
- Enforce client policies and procedures
- Provide excellent customer service and public assistance
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and site personnel
Requirements
✔ Active Virginia DCJS Armed Security Officer Registration
✔ Valid Driver's License
✔ Reliable Transportation
✔ Ability to travel between multiple Norfolk locations as needed
✔ Strong verbal and written communication skills
✔ Professional appearance and demeanor
✔ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
✔ Must successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous armed security experience
- Military experience
- Law enforcement background
- Government facility security experience
Schedule
This is a Floater Position. Officers must be available to work at any assigned City of Norfolk site based on operational needs.
- Monday – Saturday availability preferred
- Day, Evening, and Weekend shifts available
- Additional hours may be available
Pay: $20.00 per hour
