Direct Support Professional (DSP) – After-School Program Support
Location: Wilson, NC
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with shifts available from 3:00–6:00 PM or 4:00–7:00 PM

Position Overview
We are seeking dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our after-school program team. In this role, DSPs provide guidance, supervision, and support for children with IDD during the after-school hours. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with youth, thrive in a structured environment, and are committed to helping children develop life skills, social interaction, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Support & Routine Assistance
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Support structured routines that encourage skill-building, learning, and social development
Behavioral Guidance & Positive Support
- Use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to manage behavior professionally and respectfully
- Promote a safe and encouraging environment for all participants
Engagement & Social Interaction
- Facilitate recreational, educational, and social activities
- Encourage participation while respecting each child’s individuality and preferences
Health, Safety & Documentation
- Ensure children’s safety during all activities, both inside and in the community
- Document observations and communicate relevant information to supervisors and team members
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and families to provide consistent, high-quality care
- Maintain accurate and timely records of activities and participant progress
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Ability to pass state and agency-required background checks
- Dependable, professional, and compassionate
- Strong communication skills and patience
- Ability to assist with personal care as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth with IDD
- Knowledge of positive behavioral support strategies
- Experience facilitating structured routines and skill-building activities

- Please indicate that you are aware this is a part-time position, with shifts usually scheduled in the afternoon from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
