Patti's Swim School is looking for a dependable, flexible team member to serve as a Deck Supevisor/Swim Instructor. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, leading by example, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly.
This is a hybrid position. Team members in this role should expect to spend time teaching swim lessons, assisting on the pool deck, and supporting front desk operations. Responsibilities may vary from day to day based on staffing and operational needs.
Compensation
$22/hour for Deck Supervisor duties. When assigned to teach swim lessons or substitute for an instructor, the pay rate increases to $27/hour for those instructional hours.
Responsibilities
Swim Instruction
- Teach private swim lessons for children of all ages and abilities
- Fill in for instructors during short-term or long-term absences as needed
- Demonstrate proper swim techniques and ensure lessons follow Patti's Swim School curriculum
- Maintain a safe learning environment at all times
Deck Operations
- Oversee daily pool deck operations
- Support instructors throughout their shift
- Monitor safety and address concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool deck throughout the day
Front Desk Support
- Welcome families and provide excellent customer service.
- Check swimmers in and out for lessons.
- Verify waivers and required paperwork are complete
- Assist with general questions
- Answer phones as appropriate
- Process basic administrative tasks
Team Support
- Work closely with management to ensure smooth daily operations
- Step into different roles as business needs change
- Communicate professionally with instructors, families, and coworkers
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming facility.
Qualifications
- Previous swim instruction experience required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Computer skills
- Highly organized and strong attention to detail
- Able to multitask and a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and willing to shift between instruction, deck supervision, and front desk responsibilities
- Reliable transportation
- Available to work a consistent year-round schedule
- Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
This is an active position requiring the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Enter and exit the pool repeatedly through out the day
- Demonstrate swimming skills
- Assist children in the water, including supporting or lifting children when necessary
- Bend, kneel, reach, and reach quickly if needed
