Hi! Interested in becoming a patient experience coordinator at Wink Pediatric Eye Care? Wink Pediatric Eye Care is a new, pediatric optometry office and optical located on W 80th and West End Avenue, NYC. We are excited to start an office with a mission of helping children see better to live better.
Th position will be starting mid-August 2026. The office is currently undergoing the build out and I’m excited to create a beautiful, happy space to work!
Role Summary
The Patient Experience Coordinator is the primary point of contact for our young patients and their families. This versatile team member creates a warm, welcoming environment from check-in to check-out, assists parents with selecting and fitting children's eyewear, and supports the optometrist with preliminary testing. This position is the perfect balance between clinical experience, retail skills and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Front Desk & Check-In/Out: Warmly greet families upon arrival, manage patient check-ins and check-outs using an iPad or laptop, schedule appointments through our electronic health records system via online requests and on the phone, and collect payments. You will also be responsible for explaining our fees to parents as we do not accept insurance but can dispense an itemized receipt for reimbursement.
- Optical & Eyewear Sales: Guide parents and children through selecting, fitting, and ordering frame and lens options tailored to pediatric needs.
- Clinical Support: Conduct basic preliminary vision testing and pre-screening procedures prior to the doctor's exam (full training provided). This team member works closely with the optometrist on a daily basis to provide excellent patient care.
- Patient & Parent Communication: Serve as a friendly, reassuring resource for families, answering questions and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere for kids. We are serving our communities families and we want our office to feel like a family.
- Office Flow: Assist with administrative duties, phone inquiries, and keeping the reception and optical display areas tidy and child-friendly.
As the primary bridge between our families and the doctor, the Patient Experience Specialist acts as the doctor’s true right-hand team member by keeping clinic days seamless, warm, and well-organized. Working side-by-side with the doctor, this role manages the daily flow of the practice—greeting families, performing preliminary testing, and guiding parents through frame selection and treatment plans—so the doctor can focus entirely on providing exceptional clinical care.
At Wink Pediatric Eye Care, I built our practice from the ground up with intentional design and high energy to create a space that feels joyful, warm, and inspiring. We believe work should be a place you genuinely look forward to coming to every day.
