PART-TIME CHURCH HANDYMAN/FACILITIES COORDINATOR
“Part-Time Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Coordinator – Flexible Hours, Great Community!”
Compensation: $20 Per Hour
Reports To: Parish Council President;
Parish Priest
Hours: 24 to 30 Hours Per Week; Flexible Hours to Support Church Events and Activities; Potentially Includes Evenings and Weekends
Location: Downtown, Columbia, SC
About the Role
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys keeping things running smoothly? Our Church is seeking a Part-Time Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to help maintain a welcoming, safe, and functional environment for our congregation and guests. This role combines practical, light maintenance and custodial work with event support, making every day different and rewarding.
What You’ll Do
● Perform general building maintenance/minor repairs and light custodial work. (Buildings include a kitchen and a multi-purpose facility.)
● Set up, break down, and clean up for Church events and banquets.
● Assist with meal prep for special events (training provided).
● Conduct preventive care, inspections, and spot cleaning.
● Provide access to facilities and guide vendors when needed.
● Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and Church members.
● Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
● Whatever else may be needed
What We’re Looking For
● Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
● Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
● Possesses hands-on experience with minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry repairs.
● Understands facilities coordination, including setting up and breaking down spaces for events and moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
● Performs routine inspections and addresses issues before they become major problems.
● Uses common maintenance tools safely and follows established safety procedures.
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, and work indoors/outdoors.
● High school diploma or GED.
● Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and satisfactory driving record.
● Must pass drug test, credit check (satisfactory or better), & criminal record check
● Working knowledge of general maintenance and safety procedures.
● Clean and appropriate/groomed appearance.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as regular lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, stooping, climbing, walking, working at various heights, moving tables and chairs, and working both indoors and outdoors (when needed).
Specific Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Current driver’s license and working vehicle. Satisfactory credit and satisfactory driving record. Must pass a drug test and a criminal record check.
