Community Representative – Mandarin/Chinese Speaking
Location: Queens, NY – 2 locations
Position: Full-Time
Start Date: Immediate
We are looking for Mandarin/Chinese-speaking Community Representatives to join our outreach team in Queens.
The Community Representative will work directly with the local community to promote a government assistance program designed to connect individuals and families experiencing financial hardship or vulnerability with available support resources.
Responsibilities
- Engage with people in the community(chinatown area) and explain the available assistance program Distribute flyers and promotional materials in designated areas.
- Approach and communicate with community members in a friendly and professional manner.
- Help interested individuals understand how to access and apply for available programs.
- Assist people with basic application steps using a cellphone or tablet when needed.
- Answer questions and provide clear information about the program.
- Work outdoors and remain comfortable approaching and speaking with members of the public.
- Follow daily instructions and work as part of a collaborative team.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude at all times.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese or Mandarin is required.
- English preferred.
- Comfortable working outside and interacting directly with the public.
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable approaching people.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable using a smartphone, messaging apps, and basic technology.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Previous experience in outside sales, community outreach, promotions, canvassing, customer service, or similar field work is a plus, but not required.
- Must be comfortable standing and working outdoors for extended periods.
