Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Travel: Mostly Abilene, TX and surrounding areas
Pay: $25 to $45/hr DOE
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a well-established construction and industrial services company. This is a field-based position supporting active job sites throughout the West Texas region. A company vehicle, gas card, and per diem (depending on location) are provided!

Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy construction equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Conduct pre and post repair inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for service
- Accurately document all maintenance, repairs, and parts in the fleet management system
- Respond to field dispatch calls for equipment breakdowns and scheduled maintenance across job sites
Requirements:
- 5+ years of heavy equipment or fleet mechanic experience in a construction or industrial environment
- Proficiency diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and technical manuals
- Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean MVR required
- Current DOT medical card required
- Must supply own hand tools
Preferred:
- Experience with utility or T&D construction equipment such as aerial devices, digger derricks, and cable plows
- ASE or manufacturer certifications (Caterpillar, John Deere, Manitowoc, Altec, or Terex)
- NCCCO or relevant equipment certification
- Welding and fabrication skills (MIG/stick)
Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
