Job Summary
The Automation Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and operating automation systems across the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford and Bakken regions. This role provides day-to-day operational support and preventive maintenance for critical field equipment, including meter skids, water transfer skids, tank batteries and saltwater disposal facilities. The position requires a strong understanding of industrial communication equipment and systems, including PLC programming and configuration, within an oil and gas production environment. This exempt-level role reports to the Engineering Manager – Automation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and optimize automation equipment and communication systems.
- Program and configure PLC devices to support safe and reliable operations.
- Install and calibrate level, pressure and temperature transmitters on production equipment.
- Support meter skids, transfer skids, tank batteries and saltwater disposal facilities.
- Test devices, alarms, shutdown systems and notifications for proper functionality.
- Build commissioning documentation including I/O lists, loop checks, and functional testing records.
- Partner with operations, SCADA, engineering, and measurement teams.
- Coordinate contractors and field vendors as needed.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety and environmental standards.
