MCA Woodworks started in 2020 as one guy with a truck and a set of tools, taking on whatever remodeling work came his way. Since then it's grown into a real company doing kitchens, basements, additions, and full remodels across the Kansas City metro — but it's grown one good hire at a time. Right now I'm looking for the next person to grow with us.
A note from me, personally: I built this company from nothing starting in 2020 — just me, a truck, and whatever work I could find. Every job, every client, every system we run today, I built by hand. I'm not looking to stay small, and I'm not looking for someone to just punch a clock. I'm looking for the next person to build this with — someone I can hand real responsibility to, trust to run jobs the way I would, and grow alongside as this company gets bigger. If that's you, I want to talk.
— Matthew Anderson, Owner, MCA Woodworks
This isn't just a job posting — it's an invitation to get in early on something that's still being built. The person who takes this role won't just be swinging a hammer for us; they'll be one of the first people I hand real ownership to as we scale.
The Role Today
Lead Carpenter / Project Manager: You'll start hands-on — framing, trim, finish carpentry, and the full range of remodeling work — working alongside me and the rest of the crew. You'll need the physical strength and endurance to work well with your hands, and just as important, the communication and organization to start taking ownership of how a job runs, not just the work in front of you.
Where This Can Go
Here's the honest version of what I want this role to become, and the timeline I'm picturing if things go well:
- First few months: master the craftsmanship side — trim, finish, and the day-to-day rhythm of how we run jobs — while learning our systems in JobTread.
- By 6 months: start running point on smaller jobs solo — your own budget, your own schedule, your own client relationship, with me backing you up.
- By a year: take ownership of jobs from start to finish, with the financial upside that comes from running your own projects well.
- As we grow: help me manage a growing crew — bringing on and training the next hires the way I'm training you now.
None of that is guaranteed on a calendar — it's earned, and it moves at the pace of your growth and the company's. But it's the real direction I want to build toward with the right person, and I'll be straight with you about how you're tracking along the way.
