Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AV Cabling Installation and Integration Field Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting audiovisual (AV) systems, including cabling infrastructure and integrated communication solutions. Your expertise will ensure seamless operation of complex AV and telecommunications systems across diverse client environments. Duties
- Install structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring according to schematics and industry standards
- Perform fiber termination to ensure high-quality data transmission across networks and AV systems
- Conduct system testing using telecommunications testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and RF testers to verify proper operation and troubleshoot issues
- Integrate audiovisual components like CCTV cameras, audio systems and radio frequency (RF) devices into existing networks
- Perform network installation tasks including Ethernet wiring, cable termination, equipment rack setup, and power distribution in data centers or client sites
- Troubleshoot electrical issues involving AC/DC electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and equipment repair to maintain optimal system performance
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of audio/video systems and telecommunication infrastructure
- Proficiency with schematics reading for cabling layouts and system configurations
- Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN setup, Ethernet protocols, and network wiring standards
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, multimeters, cable testers, and telecom analyzers effectively
- Skilled in fiber optic systems installation—including splicing—and troubleshooting fiber-related issues
- Familiarity with structured cabling installation standards (NEC compliant) and low-voltage electrical wiring practices
- Competence in using hand tools (e.g., crimpers, wire strippers), power tools for cable routing or equipment mounting
- Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment for verifying system integrity and performance
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and diagrams for accurate system installation and troubleshooting
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients of varying technical backgrounds
- Experience working as a service technician in IT or data center environments is highly desirable
