Part-Time Municipal Bus Driver
The City of Berkeley is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Part-Time Municipal Bus Driver to provide transportation services for residents attending community events, recreational activities, and local excursions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operate a municipal bus on designated or variable routes in accordance with established schedules, traffic laws, and safety regulations.
· Transport residents safely to scheduled events, programs, and designated destinations.
· Pick up and discharge passengers in a safe and courteous manner.
· Assist elderly passengers and individuals using mobility aids as needed.
· Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive interactions with passengers.
· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions and compliance with applicable regulations.
· Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, passenger counts, and other required documentation.
· Communicate effectively with passengers, City staff, and supervisors regarding schedules, route changes, or service needs.
· Adhere to all City policies, procedures, and safety standards.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Valid driver's license with a Class E endorsement authorizing operation of vehicles carrying up to 15 passengers. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required.
· Knowledge of safe driving practices and applicable traffic laws and regulations.
· Ability to safely operate a municipal bus while exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high level of caution.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to maintain schedules and ensure a safe, orderly environment for passengers.
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, staff, and the general public.
· Willingness and ability to work occasional weekends for scheduled events and special programs.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Weekends on occasion
