We're seeking an experienced Chemical Operator to join a world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a company known for its stability, cutting-edge manufacturing, and exceptional employee benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all operating procedures, rules, and instructions to ensure safe work practices; maintain full understanding of all relevant procedures.
- Participate in 5S and SFTI initiatives within the Manufacturing department.
- Maintain an audit-ready manufacturing area and control systems, ensuring documentation is current and the environment is clean and organized.
- Report personal injuries, near misses, and accidents—regardless of severity—to the supervisor and in WSO.
- Perform all work in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in accordance with 21 CFR 210 & 211.
Operations and Equipment Management
- Operate reactors, distillation columns, filters, and molecular sieves.
- Read meters, gauges, and automatic recording devices at prescribed intervals to verify operating conditions.
- Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate chemical flow.
- Handle highly hazardous chemicals in drums, totes, trucks, cylinders, or bulk tanks.
- Adjust manual controls or override automatic controls (as directed) to maintain proper operating ranges, switch to backup systems, or shut down equipment.
- Visually inspect equipment periodically to identify malfunctions, repair needs, adjustments, or lubrication requirements.
- Adjust the pH of discharged water as required.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Chemical or Pharmaceutical Technician or similar equipment operator job.
- Strong mechanical skills such as troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with Highly Hazardous Chemicals (HHCs)
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence clearly and accurately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is highly preferred.
Basic math skills required.
